About the position:
The Americares People and Talent department continuously creates, empowers, and supports the thriving global team that supports our global communities. We act as a catalyst to enable all Americares people to contribute at optimum levels toward the success of our humanitarian and public health program objectives. This role serves as a global project manager for 3-4 strategic projects each year. Additionally, and primarily, this team member will serve as the POC People Ops emergency response function.
Key Outcomes:
In the first 90 days, the Manager will
- Meet and familiarize with key EP partners
- Learn and become familiar with working documents, contracts formats, and onboarding and ER staff payment requirements.
- Build and maintain a P&T Response Tracker
- Complete all onboarding training and develop strong relationships across People and Talent and Emergency Programs
In the first 6 months, the Manager will:
- Develop P&T ER onboarding and offboarding checklist
- Collaborate with relevant partners to update all ER staff files
- Support with developing a P&T ER philosophy
In the first year, the Manager will:
- Effectively provide guidance and support to EP for issues on contracts, contribute to ER playbook and other deliverables from assigned projects.
- Perform a gap analysis regarding the ER Debrief Process; seeking to understand how we might refine our P&T debrief procedure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the People Operations emergency response contracting, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Provide People Operations guidance regarding compliance, contracts, labor law, pay and benefit equity, and other considerations to the EP team to help inform their decisions about budget and programmatic parameters for readiness and response
- Be responsible for P&T-related administrative duties and support compliance with existing legal and governmental reporting requirements.
- Lead all employee relations matters for short-term response staff in coordination with the emergency response team; support Associate Director with long-term employee relation matters.
- Lead special projects determined based on organization priorities
- Conduct pre-departure briefing to ensure staff have all the documents and necessary information for successful deployment
- Responsible for keeping response personnel files up to date (New hires, terminations, promotions, title and supervisor changes, etc.).
- Maintain and update a global People Operations response tracker
- Ensure timely payment for short-term ER staff
- Coordinate and administer response personnel performance reviews

We’d love to hear from you if…
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Humanitarian Studies, or equivalent
- You have 3 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience
- You have demonstrated excellent project management and organizational skills
- You are willing to travel up to 25% to emergency locations
- You have language skills in at least one of our core languages, other than English: Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, Kiswahili, Haitian Creole (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement)
- You have US work authorization (required)
