Job Title: Freelance Social Media Video Editor

Where: Remote

Commitment: August 2022 – November 2022, est. 80 hours per month 

Compensation:: $30 per hour 

Role Overview: 

Beyond Type 1 is searching for a Freelance Video Editor who will be responsible for editing video content specific to web and social media platforms across Beyond Type 1 brands from video campaign shoots.

The ideal candidate has a versatile skill set in digital video editing and motion graphics. Freelance Video Editor will be tasked to create and export both shorter bitesize content and long form pieces (from pre recorded materials) containing motion graphics for web and social media distribution. The Freelance Video Editor should be highly organized, independent, and comfortable collaborating with the Chief Creative Officer to reach project objectives. Good communication skills are a must, as we are looking for positive and upbeat team members who are enthusiastic about bringing their creative input to the table!


Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Work closely with Chief Creative Officer + Design Manager on creative vision and exact deliverables per assigned project
  • Oversee video editing for major campaigns and projects
  • Utilize combinations of design, typography, motion graphics, and video editing techniques to create compelling, sharable content for our online audience
  • Edit short and long form video content that incorporates motion graphics, style templates, and partnership specific elements
  • Attend project planning meetings to help team understand what will be needed for video-based project to be successful
  • Optimize new and existing video footage for web and social media platforms
  • Manage personal production queue, asset delivery to internal team members, and upload content across management tools (Trello and Google Drive)
  • General video interview editing
  • General video editing (long-form videos created by team)
  • Quick turnaround edits to new and existing video footage derived from past campaign video shoots
  • Video cover art creation + video motion graphics creation


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience editing digital content
  • Highly knowledgeable in digital video formats + aesthetics across multiple platforms; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud including but not limited to: Premiere and After Effects
  • Deep understanding of illustrator and digital design programs 
  • Sharp editorial judgment and strong visual aesthetics
  • Strong sound design skills and ability to color correct
  • Attention to detail and project organization
  • Technical know-how and understanding of file types, export settings, and asset management
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback and experiment with new approaches
  • Flexible and able to take on last minute requests
