The International consultant will provide the following tasks:

  1. Provide technical assistance to the team of national experts to conduct the work of the Status of Syria Population report including the report outline, methodology, and timeframe.

  2. Provide tangible technical inputs about the suggested structure and main outline of the report as resulted out of the consultative workshop with the various national stakeholders towards reaching a consensus on the report framework.

  3. Assist in providing key themes for each chapter of the report.

  4. Assist in data analysis, when requested.

  5. Provided technical comments and guidance during the process of the preparation of the report.

  6. Oversee the work of the national experts and his team in regular basis.

  7. Contribute to the review of the first draft and second draft of the SSPR.

  8. Submit report on consultancy mission.

The international consultant will have responsibility to support and provide inputs to the research team leader to deliver the following deliverables:

  • Report outline (including data collection instruments, methodology, clear timeline of activities)

  • Contribution to providing technical inputs for the 1st Draft of the report.

  • Contribution to 2nd Draft of the report.

  • Final report on the consultancy mission

Qualification:

  • Expertise in demography, economics and relevant social science Experience in research, quantitative analysis, policy analysis

  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience in research design.

  • Excellent writing analytical skills

  • Good facilitation skills

  • Knowledgeable of the Syria context.

  • Languages: English and Arabic

Academic Requirements:

Master’s degree/PhD in statistics, demography, sociology, social sciences, or other relevant area required

Inputs / services to be provided by UNFPA or implementing partner (e.g. support services, office space, equipment), if applicable

  • Follow up on the input of consultant;

  • Receiving final draft of the Report outline;

  • Receiving technical inputs for the 1st and 2nd Drafts of the reports

    Final report on the consultancy mission
