Brief Description: Improving infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices is a core aim of CRS’ nutrition programming, with the agency employing a variety of approaches to achieve that aim depending on the context, with most approaches being community-based and led by volunteers. CRS has employed and currently uses a variety of approaches to improve IYCF, including approaches developed within CRS and other approaches developed by governments and other INGOs.

Purpose: The purpose of the consultancy to document a more robust evidence base of selected IYCF approaches used by and available to CRS thereby improving the program quality; to develop a standardized programming guidelines (with links to key resources) for the approach(es) that will help country teams select and then adapt, and to establish better standards with regards to frequency and quality of contact, deemed essential to influence IYCF practices and achieve impact.

Deliverables:

  • Final technical proposal

  • Listing of IYCF approaches with guidance on selection

  • Standardized programming guidelines

  • Guidance with standards and tools for a quality assurance and quality improvement
