About the organization:

The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED) is a disaggregated data collection, analysis, and crisis mapping organization. The ACLED team conducts analysis to describe, explore, and test conflict scenarios, and makes both data and analysis open for free use by the public. ACLED material is regularly used to inform journalism, academic research, and public discourse on conflict, and to support the work of practitioners and policymakers. ACLED is the highest quality and most widely used real-time data and analysis source on political violence and protest around the world.

The role:

ACLED is recruiting a full-time Account Executive to support the Sales Department in prospecting, building relationships, and setting meetings with corporations from a variety of industries around the world.This is a fully remote position and can be done from any location with reliable internet service. It is open to nationals of any country, excluding those explicitly listed on the Applicants FAQ.

The Account Executive will be reporting to the Head of Sales, and has no direct reports.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

The Account Executive will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Work with Sales Development Representatives in strategizing account plans, conducting outreach, creating custom pitch decks for prospects, and leading demos of our products;
  • Identify the interests, needs, and challenges or opportunities of each prospective customer;
  • Work through contract negotiations and close agreements, as well as renewals and upselling;
  • Build a metrics-driven sales pipeline of new opportunities;
  • Accurately forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual expected up-sell revenue;
  • Accurately forecast annual retention rates and work on planning to renew strategic customers;
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure post-sale customer success;
  • Be a champion of our mission; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and competencies:

ACLED is seeking applicants who have the following skills and experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Self-starter who has a desire to learn, grow, and excel in their role;
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about our product and understanding our customers’ motivations;
  • Professional communication skills – both verbal and written;
  • Track record of selling B2B SaaS/Data;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to credibly influence at all levels, internally and externally;
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively; and
  • Prior experience using CRMs (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.).


  • Experience using collaboration tools like Slack/Asana/G-Suite; and
  • Experience selling to insurance, financial, analytics, or supply chain institutions.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to travel globally for client meetings, industry events, and organization events (15%).
